Jay Chou’s Management Denies Reports That They Tried To Cover Up Covid-19 Cases On Their Team Who Just Returned To Taiwan From Australia

Mandopop king Jay Chou, 43, released his long-awaited album Greatest Works of Art earlier this month to much fanfare.

The title song rose to the first spot on many music charts right after it was released.

We’re not surprised though. It's been six years since Jay last dropped an album  the last being Jay Chou’s Bedtime Stories in 2016 — so anticipation was definitely high.

Jay and his team are now in Australia, where he's holidaying, perhaps filming a new music video, and getting caught up in some unwanted controversy.

According to reports, some members of Jay’s team recently returned to Taiwan where they allegedly tested positive for COVID-19.

The reports than claimed that the crew members were not allowed to check into quarantine hotels as there was “a lack of funds”, a reason Jay's company was accused of giving their staff.

What's even more shocking was that the reports also alleged that Jay's company had tried to cover up that a number of their crew, including the director and cameramen had tested positive.

Jay’s company was then accused of lacking the measurements that should be in place due to the ongoing pandemic.

Jay's management company has since revealed in a statement that “only one member [of the team] tested positive for the virus on July 21st and is currently still under self-quarantine in Australia”.

In addition, the company asserted that all of Jay’s team members “headed home immediately according to quarantine rules” when they arrived in Taiwan.

“According to our policy, staff are given a choice between self-quarantining in a room, or staying at a quarantine hotel. The company reimburses each individual with NT$3000 (S$139) [should they choose the second option],” said a representative from Jay's management company.

He also went on to add that the rumours were “far from the truth” and all team members who returned from Australia are in good health.
