#1 CATCH WORLD-CLASS TENNIS STARS IN ACTION

Prepare to be dazzled as the top 128 men’s and women’s singles players converge in a quest for glory at Singapore Smash 2024.

Last year’s champions Fan Zhendong and Sun Yingsha from China return to defend their men’s and women’s singles titles, respectively. Expect nail-biting showdowns as Fan battles fellow Chinese paddlers Wang Chuqin, the world No 2 and reigning WTT Finals men’s champion, along with Ma Long, who has held consecutive runner-up titles.

Said Fan: “I am very happy to participate once again in the Singapore Smash, which brings together the world’s top players. It is both a challenge and an expectation for me. The Singapore Sports Hub has been a lucky venue for me, having secured victories in the last two Smashes, so I hope this year I can perform just as well.”

In the women’s singles, Sun – who boasts a nine-match WTT winning streak – will face off against Olympic gold medalist and 2022 champion Chen Meng from China, as well as world No 5 and four-time WTT Series winner Hina Hayata from Japan.

Five-time WTT Series title winner Hugo Calderano from Brazil is on a quest for his first WTT Grand Smash trophy.

Adding to the excitement, the international contingent features notable players such as French sensation Félix Lebrun, fresh from his victory at WTT Star Contender Goa; German veteran Timo Boll, the 2024 titleholder at WTT Contender Doha; multiple WTT Series title winner Hugo Calderano from Brazil; Tomokazu Harimoto from Japan, known for his dynamic playstyle; and the tactically astute Lin Yun-Ju from Chinese Taipei, aptly dubbed “the silent assassin”.

#2 CHEER FOR OUR HOMEGROWN HEROES

Rally behind Singapore’s own table tennis prodigies, including former boys’ world No 1s Izaac Quek and Koen Pang, as they compete on home ground.

Said Quek: “Playing in front of my family and friends and the Singapore crowd is really special to me. I hope Singaporeans can come and cheer on the Team Singapore players. It means a lot to have that home support.”

Singapore paddler Izaac Quek is looking forward to playing in front of a home crowd.

Singapore’s rising stars in the women’s singles category include Zeng Jian and Zhou Jingyi, both known for their exceptional technique and competitive spirit.

All four players hold the distinction of being the first recipients of the Singapore Smash Host Wildcard, which grants players who do not automatically qualify an opportunity to play. More Singapore players are expected to be added into the main and qualifying draws as the event draws near.

#3 SUPPORT AN INCLUSIVE FUTURE FOR TABLE TENNIS

Celebrate the future of table tennis with the inaugural WTT Youth Star Contender Singapore event, featuring the world’s best under-15 and under-19 players.

Additionally, be inspired by the skill and resilience displayed by para-athletes in the Singapore Para Smash showcase. This segment will feature combined standing class 6 and 7 singles competitions for men and women, competing in a round-robin format to take home the coveted trophy and US$29,500 (S$39,800) in prize money.

Dutch Paralympian Kelly van Zon won her third successive Paralympic gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
