Captain Marvel previews win praise: 'The MCU feels more complete now'
The Marvel superhero movie opens in Singapore Mar 7.
Film critics have watched a preview of Captain Marvel ahead of its premiere in March, and the early reviews are glowing with praise.
Captain Marvel marks the first female-led superhero film in Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Its 21st film is set in 1995, and follows former US Air Force fighter pilot Carol Denvers (Brie Larson) as she transforms into Captain Marvel, one of the galaxy's mightiest heroes. Denvers will also face an Earth caught in the midst of a galactic conflict between two alien worlds – the Kree and the Skrulls.
While it’s not uncommon to see high praise for a Marvel movie within the first batch of early reactions, the first responses continued to praise Larson’s performance as the “stubborn, witty ’90s kid” with “sass, strength & energy.”
Last week, Larson, Samuel L Jackson, Gemma Chan and the director duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck visited Singapore as part of the film’s global press tour. Singapore was the cast's first and only stop in Asia.
