Korean actor Hyun Bin takes top prize at 2020 APAN Star Awards
The handsome Oppa did not forget to thank his co-star girlfriend Son Ye-jin.
Korean actor Hyun Bin won the Daesang (grand prize) award at the 2020 APAN Star Awards on Saturday (Jan 23) for his role as captain Ri Jung-hyuk, a North Korean elite in hit drama Crash Landing On You.
On his win, the 38-year-old said, “I’m happy to be starting off 2021 with such a big award. I feel like I should work even harder this year to repay this honor.”
He went on to add, “Even now, Crash Landing On You is receiving a lot of love. Thank you to the fans of Crash Landing on You, not only in Korea but all over the world.”
The actor who was clad in a black suit continued, “Many people worked hard in order to create Crash Landing On You. I am grateful to the writer, the directors, and all the production staff. It was an honor to work with such amazing peers, seniors, and juniors, who all showed great acting.”
Hyun did not forget to thank his co-star girlfriend, “I am also grateful to Son Ye-jin, whose Yoon Se-ri was the perfect partner for Ri Jung-hyuk. It was thanks to her brilliant acting as Yoon Se-ri that Ri Jung-hyuk was able to shine. Thank you.”
The celebrity couple made their relationship public on Jan 1.
On his career, Hyun shared, “I will continue to work hard so that I can show a better and more improved side of myself.”
The 1.85m actor also offered a glimpse into his future plans. “I will be releasing a movie this year, and I am cautiously hoping for the day that we can meet in the movie theater without masks and smile brightly.”
Hyun will star in the sequel to his 2017 movie Confidential Assignment. He will play the role of North Korean detective Rim Chul-Ryung, alongside Yoo Hae-jin, YoonA, Yoo Hae-jin, Jin Sun-kyu and Daniel Henney.
Other members of the Crash Landing On You cast also won at the awards. Son Ye-jin took home the KT Seezn Star Award while co-stars Oh Jung-se and Kim Sun-young won the Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress awards respectively.
