The Gol & Gincu star, who was also pop singer Yuna's brother-in-law, died early Tuesday (Feb 18) morning, according to media reports.

Popular Malaysian actor Ashraf Sinclair has died of a heart attack at the age of 40 on Tuesday (Feb 18), reported several media outlets.

The news was initially reported by Indonesian newspaper, Kompas, which cited a text message confirmation from Doddy, the manager of Sinclair’s wife, Indonesian singer and actress Bunga Citra Lestari, also known as BCL. 

Sinclair’s manager, Erlangga, told CNN Indonesia that the actor died at the Metropolitan Medical Center in Kuningan, south Jakarta at 4.51am local time.

His mother, Khadijah Abdul Rahman, wrote to Malaysian portal mStar via Whatsapp, saying: “My son Ashraf has passed away. On the way to Jakarta now.”

Sinclair started his acting career in Malaysia but also found fame in Indonesia. He was known for playing Eddy in the 2005 film, Gol & Gincu, and had also appeared in the TV series of the same name.

He was the older brother of actress and radio presenter Aishah Sinclair, and younger brother, Adam, is married to Malaysian pop singer, Yuna.

Sinclair and BCL were married in 2008 and they have a ten-year-old son, Noah Aidan.
