The social media platform announced that more than 70 stars will be making an appearance to celebrate the class of 2020.

Celebrities assemble! Facebook has brought together some of the biggest names in showbiz and media for its online graduation event, #Graduation2020: Facebook And Instagram Celebrate The Class of 2020.

More than 70 celebrities will be involved in the event, with some big names including Selena Gomez, Cardi B and Matthew McConaughey. 

Other stars making an appearance include Usher, Tiktor star Dixie D’Amelio, Ronny Chieng, Kristen Bell, Awkwafina, Lil Nas X, Amy Schumer, DJ Khaled and many more.

Beginning in the US on May 15 at 11am (May 16, 2am Singapore time), the virtual graduation will be hosted by Mindy Kaling and The Office’s BJ Novak. Oprah Winfrey will be giving the commencement address, while Miley Cyrus will be performing.

Facebook will also screen a film directed by Chris Wilcha, titled Dear Grads, Love Groups, and has organised a line-up of different events on its platform as well as Instagram leading up to the May 15 graduation day itself.

If you’re interested to catch the event live, you can do so on Facebook Watch and, while highlights and other content will be up on Instagram and the respective celebrities’ accounts.

Besides this, Facebook is also giving graduates the opportunity to host their own virtual celebration using Facebook Live, with more information available at

Users will be able to use features such as AR effects, graduation speech filters with customisable tassels and college-themed stoles for the Facebook app, Instagram and Messenger; stickers and profile frames of popular school colours; and a curated list of songs for people to use when sharing moments to their stories.

The mega-collaboration is just one of the ways graduates can celebrate, with YouTube also holding their own massive online graduation featuring the likes of Barack and Michelle Obama, BTS, Lady Gaga and more.
