Anna Kendrick, Ellen DeGeneres and more celebs voice support for Elliot Page's trans reveal

After Juno and Umbrella Academy star Elliot Page came out as transgender on Wednesday (Dec 2), messages of support have been flooding in from fellow celebrities.

In his post on Instagram and Twitter, Page, who was formerly called Ellen, wrote that he was lucky to have arrived “at this place in my life”.

He added: "I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can't begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self."

In response to this very personal revelation, fellow celebrities have taken to social media to share encouragement and love for the actor who has starred in such films as Inception, Whip It and X-Men. 

Actress Anna Kendrick wrote, “Elliot Page's words here are so beautiful and so eloquent, and he is reminding me that we can all be brave and joyful, even when things are scary. And this year especially, that reminder is such a GIFT”.

Page’s Umbrella Academy co-star Tom Hopper wrote that he was proud of him and “even prouder to call you family”.

Talk show host Ellen Degeneres wrote: “Sending love to my friend @TheElliotPage. You inspire me with your strength, courage and honesty”.

Musicians Tegan and Sara expressed their admiration for Page’s bravery, writing, “Thank you for being so open about your journey and for fighting so hard to make the world a better place”.

Many others also wrote short messages of love and sent heart emojis, including actresses Olivia Munn, Miley Cyrus, Kat Dennings and Patricia Arquette.

Marvel's The Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani tweeted that he’d been of fan of Page's for a very long time “and am excited to see him continue his fantastic work in the years to come”.

Page came out as gay in 2014 and in January 2018 got married to dancer Emma Portner, who also posted this sweet message for him: “Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much”.
