It looks like the girls are giving the boys a blue black – or rather, a Blackpink trumping – in the K-pop music video world.
Blackpink dropped its pre-release single, How You Like That, along with a music video (MV) on YouTube on Jun 26 at 6pm Korea Standard Time. In just about 11 hours and 25 minutes of its release, the MV surpassed 50 million views on YouTube, according to Soompi.
How You Like That made YouTube history for being the biggest premiere, reported Allkpop.
It’s a record that broke BTS’s record with Boy With Luv, which hit 50 million in over 13 hours, according to Soompi.
The foursome also shattered its previous record set with Kill This Love. At the time of its release, it hit 50 million views in over 24 hours.
Allkpop reported that Blackpink didn’t just break YouTube’s record – it also topped the iTunes charts in 56 countries, including the US.
In South Korea, the song went to No 1 on domestic music streaming sites, including MelOn, Bugs, Genie and Soribada, becoming the first girl group in two years to hit the top spot upon release.
