BLACKPINK to return with new album, Kill This Love, on Apr 5
The K-pop girl group will release new music a week before their historic performance at Coachella.
K-pop girl group sensation BLACKPINK will release a new album titled Kill This Love on Apr 5, announced its management agency YG Entertainment on Monday (Mar 25).
YG Entertainment announced the group’s long-awaited comeback with a teaser image on its official Twitter account.
The teaser photo shows group member Lisa below the title and the release date of the album. Another poster, this time featuring member Jennie, was posted on Mar 26. More teasers are expected, featuring the group’s other members, Rose and Jisoo.
In a statement obtained by Koreaboo, YG Entertainment teased more information. "BLACKPINK's new song is a song that is even more powerful than DDU-DU DDU-DU. BLACKPINK worked with four world-class choreographers for this comeback, so the choreography for this comeback will be more dynamic than any other BLACKPINK song before,” read the statement.
This will be the group’s first comeback in nine months since the release of their worldwide hit DDU-DU DDU-DU in June 2018. So far, the group has released just nine songs across various mini-albums and extended plays.
In October, BLACKPINK featured on British singer Dua Lipa’s track Kiss And Make Up. Last November, BLACKPINK released an album of their songs performed in Japanese.
Kill This Love will be released a week before BLACKPINK’s appearance at the 2019 Coachella Music Festival on Apr 12 and 19 in Indio, California. The group are the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella.
