K-pop sensations BTS were the big winners at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) that took place on Sunday (Dec 6).
The group took home the major prizes, or daesang, such as Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for Map Of The Soul: 7, Song Of The Year for Dynamite and Worldwide Icon of the Year. They achieved the same feat last year.
They also closed out the night with a performance of a medley of some of their biggest hits, including their latest chart-topper, Life Goes On.
This year’s awards show was held virtually with no in-person audience due to South Korea's COVID-19 restrictions, and it was hosted by popular actor Song Joong-ki.
Other winners include Blackpink, who picked up the Best Female Group prize, EXO’s Baekhyun for Best Male Artist and IU for Best Female Artist.
Twice, who won Most Popular Artist, also surprised viewers when they performed a new song, called Cry For Me.
Queen of K-pop, BoA, celebrated her 20th year in the business and also picked up the Inspired Achievement award. She was celebrated during the show by younger artistes such as Aespa’s Winter and Yooa who covered some of her hit songs. BoA also took to the stage and performed a few songs, including her latest single, Better.
