Chuck Norris' manager says the Walker, Texas Ranger star was not present at last week's deadly riot at the US Capitol.

A photo of a man resembling Norris apparently with a member of the mob began trending online. "This is not Chuck Norris," Norris manager Erik Kritzer told The Associated Press on Tuesday (Jan 12).

"Chuck remains on his range in Texas where he has been with his family," Kritzer said. He acknowledged that the man photographed looked somewhat like Norris but "Chuck is much more handsome".

Walker, Texas Ranger, the TV series in which Norris played karate-kicking lawman Cordell Walker, ran from 1993 to 2001. In 2016, he announced his support for President Donald Trump.

Norris is not the first celebrity who has had to clarify that he was not at the riot. Jamiroquai lead singer Jay Kay also had to address the online chatter that said he looked like the man dressed as a Viking whose photograph featured heavily in reports about the riot.

Kay released a video statement that said, "Good morning, world. Now some of you may be thinking you saw me in Washington, (DC) last night but I'm afraid I wasn't with those freaks".
