Singapore actress Eleanor Lee, who is local celebrity Quan Yifeng’s daughter, is starring in an upcoming remake of A Chinese Ghost Story.

The film, titled The Enchanting Phantom, will be released next Friday (Mar 1) on China’s online streaming platform Tencent Video. Lee will star alongside Chinese actor Chen Xingxu in the lead roles of Nie Xiaoqian and Ning Caichen, respectively.

It is a love story between Nie, a ghost, and Ning, who is a scholar. In the film, Ning tries to save Nie from a tree demon, to whom she is eternally bound to serve.

The 20-year-old actress posted about the filming experience on Instagram, writing: “As far as I know, Nie Xiaoqian is a soul and without warmth. But it was so cold when we shot the film, mist would form when I breathed. My fingers, lips and nose were frozen red to the point the makeup artist could not cover it.”

The award-winning original film was released in 1987 and starred Leslie Cheung and Joey Wong.

Lee is the daughter of TV host Quan and actor Peter Yu. She had previously acted in Solaso Bistro, My Poseidon and Blowing In The Wind.
