Malaysian actress Fazura Sharifuddin files for divorce from actor Fattah Amin after 7 years of marriage
In recent months, many fans speculated that Fazura and Fattah's marriage was on the rocks as the two had stopped interacting with each other on social media.
Malaysian actress Fazura Sharifuddin, 40, filed for divorce from her husband of seven years, actor Fattah Amin, 34, on Friday (Sep 13). The divorce petition was filed at the Petaling Syariah Court by Fazura's lawyer. No reasons were cited for the divorce.
In an interview with Malaysian news outlet Harian Metro on Saturday, Fattah revealed that he only knew about the divorce petition through social media.
"I was extremely shocked and sad upon hearing the news. I still love Fazura," he said.
Addressing rumours that he had been unfaithful to Fazura, Fattah stated: "I would like to emphasise that there is no other woman in my life, despite rumours on social media."
He added that he wanted the issues surrounding him and Fazura to be "solved nicely and peacefully".
Following her divorce application, Fazura posted a cryptic photo of herself on her Instagram page, with a quote from famed poet Rumi: "It’s your road and yours alone, others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you."
Many celebrities have since posted supportive comments on Fazura's post, including Fasha Sandha and Nora Danish who also filed for divorce this year.
Fazura and Fattah's divorce comes months after speculation that the two were having marital issues following their lack of interaction on social media. Fazura and Fattah got married in November 2017 and have a four-year-old daughter together.
