SONEs, marks your calendars: South Korean group Girls' Generation dropped a teaser for their upcoming studio album, Forever 1, on Monday (Jul 25) morning.

The teaser itself didn't say much about the album besides “Girls’ Generation coming soon” in all caps, across all their social media platforms.

However, their official Twitter account added the caption: “‘Top legend girl group’ Girls’ Generation is set to come back with their 7th full-length album, ‘FOREVER 1’, on August 8!

“Presale for the album begins today, officially kicking off their 15th anniversary comeback!”

Although the pre-order link was, at the time of writing, not yet available, the tweet prompted excited reactions from fans. Some asked about the link, while others were simply excited for Girls’ Generation’s return as a full group.

In addition to the album, the group has been celebrating their reunion with a variety show called Soshi TamTam, which has been airing every Tuesday on Korean television network JTBC since Jul 5.

JTBC has posted some of the show’s content, including teasers, on their YouTube channel.

Girls’ Generation’s agency SM Entertainment confirmed that the group was putting together an album in May this year with all eight members. They last worked together on 2017’s Holiday Night, before members Seohyun, Sooyoung and Tiffany’s contracts expired without renewal.

The group’s remaining members Hyoyeon, Sunny, Taeyeon, Yoona and Yuri continued as a sub-unit, Oh!GG.

All eight of them remain popular with solo projects both in music and television. Most recently, Hyoyeon released the extended play Deep.

Meanwhile, Yoona plays the lead opposite Lee Jong-suk in the crime thriller drama Big Mouth, which will be available for streaming on Disney+ from Jul 29.

Since their debut in 2007, the group has lent their voices to songs that have become well-known even amongst non-K-pop fans, including their 2009 single Gee and I Got A Boy.

We’ve not gotten a taste of any of the upcoming songs from Forever 1, but we’re confident that it’ll be fitting of the group’s “top legend girl group” title.
