It’s not a publicity gag: Jerry has apparently been mouse-napped. One half of the famous Tom & Jerry duo – or rather, its inflatable – went missing from Sentosa’s Siloso Beach on Sunday (Nov 12). A missing mouse report has been made on the 1.5m-tall Jerry mascot.

The remaining inflatable of Tom, seen holding an opened durian, is still displayed near Emerald Pavilion by organiser Warner Bros Discovery. It is part of the ongoing WB100 Celebrating Every Story event that will end on Nov 26. At the moment, a standee of Jerry has been put in place of the missing inflatable.

The mascots are based on the localised version of the cartoon, which depicts Tom and Jerry eating durian and exploring Singapore.

A spokesperson said that the inflatables are deflated every night at 9pm after the exhibition closes. The culprit, according to the spokesperson, could have struck in the wee hours of Monday.

Will the missing Jerry be replaced? Unlikely. The two inflatables cost “several thousand dollars” and a dupe would take too long to make before the exhibition ends, said the spokesperson.

Posts about the incident have been put up on social media.

It is the first time a mascot has gone missing. The inflatable characters were shown at a kite-flying fiesta on Nov 4 and 5 at the Marina Barrage.
