British actor Henry Cavill is set to be a dad after he confirmed that his longtime girlfriend Natalie Viscuso is pregnant with the couple's first child.

The news was first reported by US entertainment news outlet Access Hollywood which interviewed Cavill during the premiere of his new film The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

The couple sparked pregnancy rumours after Viscuso was spotted with a baby bump in New York City earlier in the week.

During the interview, Access Hollywood asked Cavill if working with costar Henry Golding "inspired" him to take on fatherhood, to which Cavill replied, confirming the pregnancy news: "He didn't inspire me to do that. My parents did. I'm very excited about it, and Natalie and I are both very excited."

He then proceeded to thank the interviewer after she told him that he "was going to be a great dad".

Henry Cavill and Natalie Viscuso, who is the vice president of production company Vertigo Entertainment, first went public with their relationship in April 2021 after the Man Of Steel star uploaded an Instagram post of them playing chess, calling her his "beautiful and brilliant love".

The news sparked backlash from a few fans, prompting Cavill to upload a separate post the following month, telling "those who are expressing (their) disdain and showing (their) displeasure" to stop.

Since then, the couple have made multiple red carpet appearances together, including the premieres for Enola Holmes and Argylle.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare is a spy comedy film that follows Henry Cavill's Gus March-Phillipps as he leads a secret British organisation to take down the Nazis in World War II. The film also stars Henry Golding, Eiza Gonzalez, Alan Ritchson and Alex Pettyfer.
