Taiwanese singer Jimmy Lin was injured on Friday (Jul 22) after his Tesla car crashed into an electrical pole at a road divider in Taiwan's Taoyuan City. The car also burst into flames.

According to a post on his official Facebook page, the 47-year-old Lin was driving at the time of the accident. He and one of his twin sons Jenson were rescued by passers-by.

Lin suffered multiple injuries, including fractures, and is receiving medical treatment. His condition is "relatively stable," the statement said. Reports say his son was in shock but is not badly injured.

Taiwanese media reported that bystanders who witnessed the white Tesla crash rushed to help pull Lin and his son out of the vehicle.

Emergency services received a call for assistance at about 10.50am and firefighters proceeded to extinguish the blaze when they arrived.

Lin and his son have been taken to Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital.

"We'd like to sincerely thank the people who helped rescue Mr Lin and his son from the car. Thank you on behalf of Mr Jimmy Lin's family and his company," said the statement on Lin's page.

Lin is a former pop idol and actor. He is also a race car driver.
