Jisoo, one-fourth of the popular K-pop group Blackpink, is starring in a new zombie series titled Newtopia that’s set for release in 2025.

The series, for Korean streaming service Coupang Play, will see Jisoo starring opposite Park Jung-min as they play a couple who are navigating a zombie-infested Seoul to make their way back to each other.

Park’s character Lee Jae-yoon is serving his mandatory military training as the zombie outbreak takes place while Jisoo’s character, Kang Young-ju, is his engineer girlfriend who is waiting for him.

The series is director Yoon Sung-hyun’s first foray into television after his work on films such as Bleak Night (2011) and Time To Hunt (2020).

The script is co-written by Han Jin-won, who co-wrote the Oscar-winning Parasite with director Bong Joon-ho, and Ji Ho-jin, who wrote A Shop For Killers, which streams on Disney+.

This will be Jisoo’s second TV series outing, the first being Snowdrop (2020). Park has appeared in Hellbound and Smugglers.
