Popular K-drama Vincenzo, which stars Song Joong-ki and Jeon Yeo-bin, aired its final episode on Sunday (May 2) and hit a personal best. According to Korean entertainment website Soompi the series finale achieved the highest viewership ratings of the show’s entire run.

Based on Nielsen Korea, Vincenzo’s big series finale scored an average nationwide rating of 14.6 per cent and a peak of 16.2 per cent, winning first place in its time slot across all channels – including South Korea’s public broadcast networks.

Not only did the ratings mark a new personal record for the series, but they also made Vincenzo the drama with the sixth highest ratings in tvN history, bested only by Crash Landing on You, Goblin, Reply 1988, Mr. Sunshine and Mr. Queen.

Vincenzo, which is also available on Netflix, stars Song Joong-ki (known for his leading roles in Descendants of the Sun and The Battleship Island) as Vincenzo Cassano, an Italian lawyer and mafia consigliere who is of Korean descent, but was adopted by an Italian family at a young age.

When he moves back to Korea due to a conflict within his organization, he winds up crossing paths with sharp-tongued lawyer Hong Cha Young (Jeon Yeo-bin). Together, they join forces in using villainous methods to take down villains who cannot be punished by the court of law. The series also stars 2PM’s Taecyeon.
