K-pop boy band BTS calls time-out.

The septet announced its members are going on an extended hiatus from performing following a concert in Seoul on Sunday (Aug 11).

Its agency Big Hit Entertainment broke the news in a statement shared on Twitter.

"Hello. This is Big Hit Entertainment. We would like to announce that for the first time since their debut, BTS will be going on an official and extended period of rest and relaxation," the statement read.

"This period of rest will be an opportunity for the members of BTS, who have relentlessly driven themselves towards their goal since their debut, to recharge and prepare to present themselves anew as musicians and creators."

It is the first time that members RM, Jungkook, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin and V will take time off since the group's debut in 2013. In a span of six years, the band released six full-length albums, and six EPs and played five continents on five separate tours.

"This will also provide them with a chance to enjoy the ordinary lives of young people in theirs 20s, albeit briefly," said the agency.

There’s no mention of how long this vacation will last or what the members will be getting up to during the break.

Big Hit asked that fans respect their privacy. "Should you have a chance encounter with a member of BTS while they are on vacation, we ask that you show consideration for their need to rest and enjoy their private time off. BTS will return refreshed and recharged to return all the love you have and continue to show them."

BTS fans are surprisingly supportive of the move.

A fan posted on Twitter that she is “so happy that these 7 guyz r taking a break."

Another posted, “rest well and be healthy. Enjoy your holidays. #RestWellBTS #HappyVacationBTS”
