K-pop idol Rain donates his entire Levi's ambassador earnings to support women in need due to COVID-19

His agency revealed that the donation will be used to provide sanitary napkins for disadvantaged women who are currently facing hardships.

On June 3, K-pop singer and actor Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, was officially announced as the brand ambassador for denim giant Levi Strauss Korea.

According to Korean entertainment news website Soompi.com and, Rain’s agency Rain Company and its partner Sublime Artist Agency, released a statement a few days after, revealing that the star will be donating all of his earnings from the gig to help disadvantaged women.

Referring to the recent swell in popularity of Rain’s 2017 song Gang, the agency stated that “because it was his fans who created the ‘Gang’ syndrome that recently caused a stir, Rain wanted to return (this love).”

“So he personally decided to donate the entirety of his modeling fees (earned from) the denim brand.”  

According to the statement, the donation “will be used to provide sanitary napkins for disadvantaged women who are currently facing hardships due to COVID-19.” 

In addition to modeling for Levi Strauss, Rain is currently appearing on MBC (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation)’s How Do You Play?vas he gears up for his debut in a new co-ed dance group with Yoo Jae Suk and Lee Hyori.
