KBS bans Blackpink’s Kill This Love music video over one small, crucial detail
The ban is due to the issue of a missing seatbelt.
South Korean television network KBS has banned the music video for popular K-pop girl group Blackpink’s Kill This Love song, disallowing it for broadcast.
The reason for the ban is a scene in which band member Rose drives a car without wearing a seatbelt.
Never mind that Rose is about to drive into and kill a version of herself standing in the middle of the road. It's important that she stay safe while doing it. And not having her seatbelt on while driving constitutes a traffic offence.
This is not the first time KBS has banned a music video for the same reason. Netizens pointed out that Lee Hyori’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang suffered the same fate.
And it’s not the first time the network has banned a Blackpink video, either. They previously put clamps on Boombaya for the words, “F U pay me.”
However, if videos are edited, they may be submitted again to KBS for reevaluation.
