Singapore actors Pierre Png and Siti Khalijah Zainal have joined the cast of Singapore Repertory Theatre's (SRT) upcoming production of the Broadway and West End musical Legally Blonde, the theatre company announced on Monday (Jul 6).

Png will play Kyle the UPS Guy, the confident deliveryman who becomes romantically involved with Paulette, while Siti – also known as Siti K – takes on the role of Paulette, Elle Woods' warm-hearted friend, manicurist and confidante.

For the Crazy Rich Asians star, the production marks a return to the stage a decade after Mulan The Musical at Resorts World Theatre in 2016, and his debut at the Esplanade Theatre.

"Playing the role of Kyle will be fun because I want to be like him in real life – confident, funny, and have one 'helluva' swag!" he said in a press release.

"I loved and learnt so much about myself while performing in Mulan The Musical," he later told CNA Lifestyle.

"The feeling of performing live on stage and the sense of camaraderie developed amongst the performers, staging and producers of the show is priceless, so when SRT presented my managers with a similar opportunity, I immediately said yes."

Siti said she was drawn to Paulette's warmth and authenticity.

"Paulette is such a fun character because she brings so much heart, humour and personality to the story. What attracted me to the role was the opportunity to play someone who's unapologetically herself. Audiences can laugh with her, root for her, and maybe even see a little bit of themselves in her," she said.

"The script and score are also so brilliantly written, and to be part of it feels surreal," she told CNA Lifestyle. "It’s also my first show with SRT, which makes the experience even more special."

The two join a cast led by West End performer Nathania Ong as Elle Woods and singer-songwriter Nathan Hartono as Warner Huntington III, Elle's charismatic yet self-centred ex-boyfriend.

The supporting cast also includes Benjamin Chow, Dwayne Lau, Vanessa Kee and Sandra Riley Tang.

"It's been very, very fun working with the rest of the cast," Png said. "It's my first time working with everyone except for Sandra Riley Tang, but it feels like I've known them forever. Everyone is so talented."

Siti added: "Everyone has been lovely, generous and supportive – they've been giving their 200 per cent and putting in so much heart and dedication into the production.

"I genuinely look forward to every rehearsal because it’s such a joy to be immersed in that positive energy."

Based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the hit 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon, Legally Blonde The Musical follows sorority president Elle Woods as she enrols at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner. Along the way, she challenges stereotypes, overcomes sexism and discovers her own abilities as a lawyer.

The musical runs from Jul 29 to Aug 16, 2026, at the Esplanade Theatre. Tickets range from S$38 to S$228, with more information available on the official SRT website.
