But fans also lament that there is no BTS merchandise or photocard in each meal.

While Singaporean fans will have to wait till Jun 21 for their McDonald’s BTS Meal because of Phase 2 (Heightened Alert), BTS fans across the Causeway are already digging into their very happy meals.

The BTS Meal – a collaboration between K-pop boyband BTS and McDonald’s that consists of 10 pieces of Chicken McNuggets with sweet chilli and cajun dipping sauces, a medium serving of fries and a medium drink – started selling in Malaysia for RM15.70 (S$5) on Wednesday (May 26).

Malaysia is the first Asian country among the 49 countries worldwide launching the BTS Meal, ahead of Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia and even South Korea.

Despite the ongoing pandemic, BTS fans have been queueing in person as well as crashing the McDonald’s delivery app and online delivery service for their fast food fix, according to Malay Mail.

Fans, known as ARMY, have also taken to social media to post BTS Meal packaging that has been washed, dried and even framed and displayed on the wall.

The lucky ones who managed to get their hands on the BTS Meal were appreciative that the McDonald’s staff in Malaysia had placed the fries separately in a regular McDonald's bag to avoid greasing up the paper bag bearing the BTS logo.

To keep the BTS packaging as pristine as possible, those who ordered the meals in person even brought their own food containers and immediately transferred the nuggets, fries and drink into them upon receiving their orders.

The fanatical behaviour could be, in part, caused by the lack of BTS merchandise or photocards of their idols. Facebook users have taken to the social media platform to lament about "no free gift BTS doll and card” and "Why no photocard uwuwuwuuw”, cited Malay Mail.

As for the impatient Singaporean ARMY, you may want to check out sites such as Carousell, where some enterprising individuals are already selling the BTS Meal packaging for as much as S$100.
