Jason Derulo, Ronan Keating to perform at Mediacorp’s New Year countdown show

Jason Derulo, RRILEY and Yung Raja are among the artistes helping you ring in the New Year.

Year-end celebrations are bound to look a little different this year but you can still usher in the New Year with music and fireworks – on TV, from the comfort of home and with a select group of your nearest and dearest.

To help you do just that, you can tune in to Mediacorp’s annual countdown show on Dec 31 with its exciting line-up of performances by local and international acts.

Let’s Celebrate 2021 will be hosted by 987 DJs Sonia Chew and Joakim Gomez and you can look forward to music and dance performances, a light show and – of course – fireworks.

Catch homegrown stars like rapper Yung Raja, dance-pop diva RRILEY and indie singer Shye, and be entertained by popular international artistes Jason Derulo and Ronan Keating, along with TikTok sensation Benee, crooner Jeremy Zucker and former busker-turned-star Tones and I.

You can also check out a rendition of Mediacorp’s new festive theme song, Better, featuring Gareth Fernandez, Kollywood producer Shabir, JJ Neo and social media personality Hashy Yusof. The song premieres on 987FM on Wednesday (Nov 25) at 5pm so you can listen for the first time then.

The one-hour-and-45-minute show will also showcase local talent from various creative industries, such as fashion and dance. Tabitha Nauser will perform in an outfit designed by Singapore-born brand Dzojchen, while RRILEY’s dance moves will be choreographed by industry veteran Wawan.

Eight up-and-coming artistes, including Ya Hui, Ye Jiayun and Herman Keh, will be donning designer wear by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts alumni Annie Chua, Darren Loh and Max Tan as they accompany Nauser during her performance.

And a countdown wouldn't be complete without a dazzling light show or fireworks so it's a good thing you'll get to see both – with shots of fireworks from the heartlands and a “Shine a Light” display beamed live from The Promontory at Marina Bay.

To make the whole celebratory experience more interactive, viewers will be encouraged to record and share their Countdown Moment on social media using the hashtag #SGTogetherABetter21.

Mediacorp CEO Tham Loke Kheng said: “Let’s Celebrate is an annual highlight that’s all the more special this year, as we rally Singaporeans in looking forward to a better 2021. Through an eclectic showcase of the best of local talent, creative collaborations and international acts, we look to spread positivity and hope as we all join together to usher in the new year and all the exciting possibilities it holds.”

Catch Let’s Celebrate 2021 live on meWATCH, Mediacorp Entertainment on YouTube and Channel 5 on Dec 31, 10.30pm to 12.15am. You can watch the encore telecast on Channel 5 on Jan 1, 5pm to 6.45pm.
