Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh inadvertently caused a stir on Tuesday (Jan 2) when she posted a photo of a newborn baby's foot, leading many fans to speculate that she and husband Jean Todt had become new parents.

The post referred to the baby as "a little miracle on the first day of 2024" and prompted a wave of congratulations from her fans – with most of them mistakenly assuming that the baby was hers.

The 61-year-old Yeoh then uploaded two separate posts, revealing that the baby in question was, in fact, her new grandchild.

"Thank you darling Nicolas and Darina for making us the happiest and proudest grandparents! Welcome, baby Maxime," the Oscar winner wrote in one of the posts.

The new pictures caused a few users to joke that Yeoh "had to make a clarification post" to set the record straight, with one user saying that "someone needed to update (Yeoh's) Wikipedia page", which had earlier been amended to say that the actress' first child was born on Jan 1, 2024.

Michelle Yeoh and Jean Todt got married in July 2023 after a 19-year-long engagement and recently held a wedding reception at a private island in Malaysia.
