There's just no telling how far Moana will go. Disney dropped the first teaser for Moana 2 on Wednesday (May 29) and it seems like the company will have another hit on their hands. The one-minute-44-second trailer earned 178 million views across multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, TikTok and X, within 24 hours.
This makes it the most-watched trailer for an animated Disney movie – beating out previous record holder Inside Out 2.
The trailer doesn't appear to reveal any plot points, only showing Moana as she embarks on yet another journey. It ends with a shot of Dwayne Johnson's Maui (as a shark) leaping out of the ocean and transforming into an eagle and then into his demigod form, before greeting Moana and her animal companions.
Moana 2 is set to be released on Nov 27 with Temuera Morrison, Nicole Scherzinger and Alan Tudyk also reprising their roles. The announcement of the sequel in February came as a surprise as it was initially planned as a television series, before being reworked into a movie.
