K-drama fans all over the world are eagerly anticipating the final two episodes of the hit drama Queen Of Tears, set to air on Apr 27 and 28. The series follows the trials and tribulations of lawyer Baek Hyun-woo and his wife Hong Hae-in, the CEO of a department store who is diagnosed with brain cancer. Since its premiere on Mar 9, Queen Of Tears has enjoyed a meteoric rise in popularity.

Its most recent episode (which aired on Apr 21) garnered an average nationwide rating of 21.625 per cent, a few percentage points shy of the 21.683 per cent achieved by 2019's Crash Landing On You which remains the record-holder for the highest rated tvN drama across South Korea.

It's not an exaggeration to say that the show's finale is the hottest thing happening this weekend.

A recent post by the show's network tvN has further propelled the hype surrounding Queen Of Tears' finale. On Apr 23, tvN announced that the show's final two episodes will be airing in South Korea at 9.10pm KST on Saturday and Sunday respectively – 10 minutes earlier than its usual timeslot of 9.20pm KST.

This has prompted speculation amongst fans that the two episodes will have a longer runtime, perhaps to properly tie up all of the show's plot points. Though fans are excited by the news, a huge majority of them have also demanded that Queen Of Tears, which is laced with tragic themes, end on a positive note.

One fan wrote: "If they [Hyun-woo and Hae-in] don't get a happy ending, I will be extremely disappointed with tvN."

Some of the plot points that need to be resolved include – spoiler alert – Hae-in's memory loss after her surgery and the manipulation done by Eun-sung, Hae-in's obsessive university friend.

tvN has also announced that it will be airing two special episodes on May 4 and 5, following Queen Of Tears' finale. According to South Korean publication Star News, the specials were prepared "to soothe the disappointment", prompting speculation that the show will indeed have a sad ending.
