The 2023 New York Festivals TV & Film Awards saw Mediacorp winning 24 awards. In addition to that, there were 41 finalists from the media company, which included artistes from The Celebrity Agency (TCA), Mediacorp's in-house talent agency.

Rebecca Lim, Quan Yi Fong and Kym Ng were named finalists in various categories, with Lim getting the nod twice.

REBECCA LIM

The 36-year-old actress was named a finalist twice under the Best Performance by an Actress category for her roles in the television series This Land Is Mine and Third Rail. In This Land Is Mine, Lim plays June Chiang – a legal clerk battling her own personal demons. In Third Rail, Lim takes on the role of Geraldine Hyak – one of the hostages in a train hijacking. Fellow Singaporean actor Benjamin Heng was also named a finalist in the Best Performance by an Actor for the latter.

Lim told CNA Lifestyle: "To be able to gain recognition on a global platform is beyond anything that I’ve ever imagined... I've been blessed to have had the opportunity to portray these two strong female characters that were immensely challenging in all aspects yet helped me grow as an actor and grow in empathy. Both teams worked to produce two very distinctly Singapore stories. I am even more certain that we do have what it takes. We just need to have the opportunities."

QUAN YI FONG

The 49-year-old entertainer was named a finalist in the Best Host category for her work on the second season of Hear U Out. The popular talk show sees Quan interviewing celebrity guests in an intimate setting, giving viewers an insight into their personalities off-camera.

In an email statement to CNA Lifestyle, Quan said: "Thank you family, company and all of the crew of Hear U Out Season 2."

Quan also added an idiom that roughly translates to: "Live up to the years spent. Live up to the audience's expectations. Don't forget why you first started in order to fulfill your mission."

KYM NG

Also receiving a Best Host finalist honour was actress-host Kym Ng. The 55-year-old star was awarded for her work on the third season of the food show Old Taste Detective. Each episode in the series follows a different host and chef as they visit multiple traditional food establishments and then attempt to replicate the dishes served there.

Ng told CNA Lifestyle: "I am very grateful and I hope that more people will get to see our Singapore productions."
