Singaporean actress Rebecca Lim has picked up a best actress prize from the 2020 Asian Academy Creative Awards for her role in the second season of the crime drama series, The Bridge.

Lim posted about her win on Instagram late Thursday (Oct 15) and celebrated the host of other awards the series also picked up for the National Winner – Malaysia category, including best drama, best actor and best supporting actor and actress.

She wrote: “Am still processing this amazing news. National winner for the Best Actress category in Malaysia and 8 nominations for the #TheBridgeSeason2 family”.

Singaporean Aida Aris picked up best supporting actress in the same category.

The national winners will go on to represent their nation or territory in the Grand Awards and Gala Final to be held in December.

Fellow celebs wrote congratulatory messages on Instagram in response to Lim's post, including Romeo Tan, Cynthia Koh, Fauzie Laily and Priscelia Chan.

Lim stars as the brilliant but socially awkward detective Serena Teo in the mystery thriller series, which is adapted from the original Danish-Swedish version. Malaysian actor Bront Palarae plays Teo’s counterpart, detective Megat Jamil; he picked up a best actor award. Local actor Adrian Pang also stars in the show.

In the second season of the 10-part drama, produced by streaming platform Viu and HBO Asia, the two detectives work on a case involving a slain Indonesian family aboard a Singapore-registered yacht that ended up in Johor waters.

The first season saw the detective duo solving a murder on the Tuas bridge.

The Asian Academy Creative Awards celebrate works from nations and territories in the Asia-Pacific region including Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, South Korea, Thailand and the Philippines, among others.

The winners for the Singapore category include best actor Zhang Yao Dong for Daybreak, best actress Yeo Yann Yann for Invisible Stories: LIAN and best drama Mind's Eye.
