Singaporean theatre actress Nathania Ong joins West End production of Hamilton
This is her third role in a West End production.
Singaporean theatre actress Nathania Ong is set to take on the role of Eliza, one of the main protagonists, in the West End production of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton.
The 25-year-old took to Instagram to share the news on Wednesday (May 8), writing: “Following a list of incredible Elizas, I’ve got big shoes to fill, @shanofficially is a powerhouse!!”
Nathania, who will have her first performance in London at the Victoria Palace Theatre on Jun 17, is taking over from London-based singer-actress Shan Ako, who has performed more than 600 shows.
The award-winning musical follows the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and how he helped shape the nation. Nathania will be playing his wife, who performs songs such as Helpless, That Would Be Enough, Best Of Wives And Best Of Women and Burn.
This marks the theatre actress’ third West End role. She previously played Eponine in the musical Les Miserables and Jenna Rolan in Be More Chill.
In an interview with CNA Women last year, she said: “The world is a Singaporean artist’s oyster. I achieved something big with Les Mis, but from that moment, I want to keep going.”
"I never want to believe that I made it and then stop working hard for the next big project."
And true to her word, it seems like Nathania is not throwing away her shot.
