It’s paradise for Single’s Inferno fans. The popular dating show has become the first Korean Netflix variety show to be renewed for a fourth season, the streaming service announced on Wednesday (Jan 24).
The show’s producer Kim Jae-won said that the Single Inferno's team will be taking fans' feedback and suggestions into account when producing season four so that it is "even more entertaining" than the previous seasons.
The third season, which was released in December last year, was the most successful among the previous seasons, producer Kim and co-producer Kim Jung-hyun told The Korea Herald.
They said that while the first and second season of Single’s Inferno had about 6 million viewing hours each, the latest season had more than 7 million.
Besides that, the show also clinched a spot in the Global Top 10 TV Series (Non-English) list for five consecutive weeks since its release.
Producer Kim attributed the season’s popularity to the new formula that was introduced – that the cast was split into two Inferno islands.
“In the early stages of the third season, viewers were quite surprised by the revelation of there being two ‘heavens’ and two ‘hells’. The 12 contestants were also taken aback,” said co-producer Kim.
Another change the latest season had was the introduction of a new host – season 2 breakout star Kim Jin-young, otherwise known as Dex, one of the many cast members the Single's Inferno franchise has catapulted to fame. Others include season 1's Song Ji-a and Cha Hyun-seung, and season 2's Shin Seul-ki and Nadine Lee.
Details about Single’s Inferno season 4 have yet to be released.
