SM Entertainment announced that it is taking legal action against those spreading rumours about NCT members Johnny and Haechan, as well as Super Junior’s Heechul.

Earlier this week, Johnny and Haechan were accused of engaging in prostitution and drug use in Japan. The two K-pop idols were accused of being involved with three nightlife workers, who later turned out to be fans.

Heechul was then brought into the mix after photos that allegedly depicted him with one of the women were posted online.

On Tuesday (Jun 4), the agency denied the rumours in a notice on their artist rights protection website Kwangya 119, writing that they are “completely false” and “groundless”.

“We’ve gathered enough evidence regarding many posts related to this. We plan to make sure that the perpetrators of these acts are legally punished, with no settlements or leniency, regardless of their nationality,” added SM Entertainment.

"Please be aware that even at this moment, any act of uploading malicious posts can be subject to punishment," said the agency.

Meanwhile, Heechul has taken to fan platform Dear U to deny his affiliation with the two NCT members. He wrote that he has “never met, let alone ate or drank with” them, and does not have their contact information.
