Star Wars Episode IX wrap party looks out of this world with alien characters
The centrepiece was a human disco ball.
And it’s a wrap for Star Wars: Episode IX, which the cast and crew commemorated with a wild party on Saturday (Feb 16).
The wrap on Friday was a significant one as it marks the end of the new trilogy that includes Episode VII: The Force Awakens, and Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. The yet-to-be-titled Episode IX is scheduled to hit cinemas on Dec 20.
While we’re not sure what the lines are when it comes to sci-fi decadence but there was a human disco ball, ethereal characters, human-shaped topiary, growling satyrs, a 70s-style roller skating rink, and a remix of Vanessa Carlton’s A Thousand Miles.
The insider peek and professed bromance were thanks to John Bodega, who plays Finn, and his party sidekick Joonas Suotamo aka Chewbacca 2.0, and shared by fans and fan sites.
Abrams also took to Twitter to post a picture of Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and Oscar Isaac embracing on a desert landscape set. “It feels impossible, but today wrapped photography on Episode IX,” Abrams said on Twitter. “There is no adequate way to thank this truly magical crew and cast. I’m forever indebted to you all,” he tweeted.
