‘Get well soon!’: Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson get some love from Hollywood stars
Fellow celebrities are sending their well wishes to the couple after their announcement that they caught the coronavirus while in Australia.
The announcement on Thursday (Mar 12) that Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have tested positive for COVID-19 while in Australia has seen celebrities coming together to show their support for the couple.
The popular actor posted on social media that he and his wife had experienced body aches, chills and fevers. He wrote: “To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”
Actor-comedian Marlon Wayans commented on Hanks’ Instagram post: “Get well soon brother. I love you tremendously. Praying for you and wifey. Always my nizzle.”
He also tried to lighten the mood by joking about how Hanks was always the “first” for everything, which now included being the first “Hollywood Coronavirus”.
Reese Witherspoon wrote, "Please take care" while Jack Black sent his love along with a series of emojis including a heart, hands in prayer and a bicep curl.
Even the Stranger Things kid actors chimed in with Gaten Matarazzo saying "Get well soon!" and Noah Schnapp saying "feel better soon!!"
The news also drew concern from this corner of the world, with Filipina actress Heart Evangelista wishing Hanks, “Get well soon.”
Meanwhile on Twitter, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before author Jenny Han replied to Hanks’ tweet about his condition, saying: “Sending you prayer and well wishes, dear Tom and Rita!”
Pretty Little Liars actress Janel Parrish sent her well-wishes as well, writing, “Sending you both so much love and care” while Mia Farrow commented: “Sending you and Rita big love and wishing you both a speedy recovery.”
American comedian Dane Cook had some lighthearted encouragement for Hanks, tweeting: “Tom Hanks should just look in the mirror and heartfelt speech the s*** outta the coronavirus.”
There is some good news, however, as Hanks and Wilson’s son Chet took to Instagram to post a video, assuring everyone that his parents were doing fine despite the diagnosis.
“I just got off the phone with them, they both are fine, they’re not even that sick,” he said in the video. “They’re not worried about it, they’re not trippin’, but they’re going through the necessary health precautions, obviously.”
“I don’t think it’s anything to be too worried about,” he added. “I think it’s all going to be alright.”
Hanks is in Australia to work on an upcoming movie about Elvis Presley where he is set to play the late singer’s manager, Colonel Tom Parker.
