Wonder Woman sequel, The Walking Dead finale, Tony Awards postponed

Wonder Woman fans, you’ll need to wait a little longer to watch Gal Gadot in action. Wonder Woman 1984, the sequel to the 2017 hit film, will now be released on Aug 14 instead of Jun 5.  

Others films on Warner Bros’ slate have also been delayed, including In The Heights, an adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical that was originally scheduled for release on Jun 26. 

Scoob, an animated film based on the Scooby Doo series, also had its May 15 date cancelled, while Malignant, from Aquaman director James Wan, has been pushed back from its original Aug 14 date. 

New dates for the three movies have not been announced yet. 

And if you thought regular cliffhangers were bad, you might want to hold off on watching the current season of The Walking Dead for the moment. 

In a statement posted on Twitter on Wednesday (Mar 25), AMC Networks announced that the COVID-19 outbreak has forced it to delay post-production of the season finale. 

“Current events have unfortunately made it impossible to complete post-production of The Walking Dead Season 10 finale, so the current season will end with its 15th episode on April 5,” the network tweeted. “The planned finale will appear as a special episode later in the year.”

The current season, which began in Oct 2019, will now have to make do with ending on its second-last episode. 

Theatre lovers will also have to wait to find out who’s going home with a Tony. 

The American Theatre Wing announced on Wednesday that they will be postponing the Tony Awards indefinitely. 

The 74th edition of the awards show was originally scheduled to air on Jun 7 from Radio City Music Hall in New York City. However, with Broadway having shut down since Mar 12 due to COVID-19, it seems that the Tonys will be left to search for new dates further down the line. 

According to a statement by the organisers: “We will announce new dates and additional information once Broadway opens again. We are looking forward to celebrating Broadway and our industry when it is safe to do so.”
