Taiwanese actor Xiu Jie Kai joins cast of The Little Nyonya spinoff, Emerald Hill

Seems like Mediacorp is going all out to ensure the success of upcoming blockbuster Emerald Hill, the spinoff to 2008's mega-hit drama The Little Nyonya.
The Peranakan-themed series not only features Chantalle Ng, Tasha Low, Tyler Ten and Zhang Zetong, but it also has Zoe Tay, newly-minted All-Time Favourite Artiste Jesseca Liu and 2015 Star Awards Best Actor Shaun Chen.
The OG Little Nyonya Jeanette Aw will also be reprising her iconic role as Yuenniang.
And now the star power of Emerald Hill has just levelled up again.
On Thursday (May 16), it was announced that Taiwanese actor Xiu Jie Kai will join the cast of Emerald Hill.
He will playing Zhang Jin He, the husband of Jesseca Liu's character.
Xiu's character is also the second son of Zoe Tay's character, the family's matriarch, which makes the 41-year-old the brother of Shaun Chen, Romeo Tan and Sheila Sim, as well as the father of Tasha Low, who is set to play the new Little Nyonya, Zhang Xin Niang.
This will be Xiu's first time acting in a Singaporean production. He will be flying over in June for fitting before joining the rest of the cast who started filming this month.
Xiu Jie Kai joined showbiz in 2003 after landing a supporting role in Taiwanese drama Friends. His popularity grew thanks to his roles in dramas Mars (2005), Black & White (2008) and K.O. 3an Guo (2009).
He is also the husband of Taiwanese actress Alyssa Chia, with whom he has two daughters nicknamed Bubu, eight, and Bobo, six.
Xiu is also stepfather to Angelina, 18, Alyssa Chia's daughter with her ex-husband, Chinese businessman Sun Zhihao.
