Zac Efron and Amanda Seyfried headline animated Scooby-Doo film

The actors complete the voice cast for the five main characters, alongside Will Forte, Gina Rodriguez and Frank Welker.

The upcoming animated Scooby-Doo film has found its Fred and Daphne in Zac Efron and Amanda Seyfried. The actors complete the voice cast for the five main characters, joining Will Forte as Shaggy, Gina Rodriguez as Velma and Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo.  

Frank Welker was the voice-over for Scoob in the 1969-1970 series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!

The story will follow the gang as they team up with other characters from the Hanna-Bardera universe (Captain Cavemen who will be voiced by Tracy Morgan) to save the world from the villainous Dick Dastardly.

Seyfried’s debut in children-friendly content was in the acclaimed teen comedy Mean Girls. She has also lent her voice to TV shows like American Dad! and Family Guy. 

Efron starred in Disney’s High School Musical trilogy and lent his voice to Ted in The Lorax, and recently starred in The Greatest Showman, alongside Hugh Jackman. His other accolades includes include Baywatch, The Disaster Artist, The Beach Bum and Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.

Scooby-Doo was created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears in 1969. The original series, Scooby Doo, Where Are You! aired for two seasons between 1969 and 1970 and was revived in 1978. Scooby-Doo franchise has produced various animated series, TV movies, comic books, and the film Scooby-Doo 2: Monster Unleashed (2004).

The Warner Bros film will open in May 2020.
