Former local TV actress Lin Liyun died on Saturday (Dec 14) of an illness, according to 8world. She was 58.

Lin was diagnosed in 2010 with multiple system atrophy, a neurodegenerative disorder that affects the nervous system and movements, and had required a wheelchair since 2014.

Lin started her acting career in 1981 at the age of 20 in what was then the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation, and had appeared alongside the late veteran actor Huang Wenyong in the 1983 series, CID 83. Huang died in 2013.

She was also in 1985’s The Young Heroes with Chen Tianwen and Li Wenhai.

Lin was last active on the local acting scene in the 1990s, although she did have a cameo in 2009’s Reunion Dinner and 2011’s The Oath.

According to The Straits Times, Lin died a day after her and her husband’s birthday on Dec 12, which was also their wedding anniversary. They have three children. 

In a 2015 interview with Shin Min Daily News, Lin said that “every life has its time, and is a cycle by itself”.

She added: “To be born, to grow old, to get sick and to die are all part and parcel of life.”
