Hong Kong actor Roger Kwok ‘didn’t have time to feel heartbroken’ when dumped

Hong Kong actor Roger Kwok who plays Chiu Tak Hing, an odd-job worker whose wife leaves him after one too many disappointments in TVB series The Forgotten Day shared in a recent interview that he experienced a similar heartbreak at the start of his acting career.
“I was too young and didn’t know what the problem was,” said Kwok. The actor was filming non-stop and had little time for the then-girlfriend, prompting her to move on.
When asked if he was heartbroken by the split, the actor replied, “Luckily, I was working at the time. I only had a few hours of sleep each day. When I had time, I would read my script. I didn’t have time to feel heartbroken.”
He added, “Unknowingly, three to four months has passed. I suddenly woke up one day and felt like I had a morphine shot. Everything was fine.”
The 56-year-old has been married to former actress Cindy Au since 2006. Kwok is 15 years older than Au. The pair held their wedding at Hong Kong Disneyland. They have a son Brad and a daughter Blair.
The couple’s marriage may be scandal-free but Kwok admitted to briefly entertaining thoughts of divorce when the relationship hit rough patches.
Au miscarried twice before conceiving their daughter causing her to become paranoid, requiring Kwok to stay by her side constantly.
Kwok’s hectic work schedule led to his depression diagnosis in 2016. The couple disagreed over their children’s upbringing and subsequently grew apart. Though Kwok considered divorce but he eventually found a way to save his marriage.
“We made sure to spend time together at least once a week,” Kwok said. They turned to religion to salvage the marriage and made a joint decision to relax their academic expectations of their children.
