If you enjoyed the 2019 Korean drama Hotel Del Luna, you’ll get a chance to catch the show in English and as an American series sometime in the future.

The supernatural-themed fantasy romance set in a mystical hotel that caters to spirits is being remade by American production company Skydance Media, in partnership with the original producers of the Korean version, CJ ENM and Studio Dragon.

CJ ENM confirmed the partnership on Wednesday (Jun 24).

The original series starred actor Yeo Jin-goo and singer IU in the main roles.

According to the partnership agreement, Studio Dragon will be equally involved in the production process as Skydance.

Studio Dragon's Hyun Park said, “The fact that the first project for our joint collaboration is Hotel Del Luna, a Studio Dragon IP, shows that our work is globally competitive. We will lead the project to a success, and become a premium drama studio around the world, to create more international dramas that people can enjoy and enhancing the status of Korean content.

Skydance Media has worked on movies such as Terminator, 6 Underground and Mission Impossible and its TV credits include Grace and Frankie and Altered Carbon.

Writer-producer Alison Schapker will write the new series. She was the executive producer for the second season of Netflix's Altered Carbon and has also worked on political drama Scandal and sci-fi series Fringe.

Bill Bost, president of Skydance Television, said, “At its core, Hotel Del Luna is a spectacular visual fantasy grounded in a story about the importance of human connection, lost lives, and unfinished business.”
