Shanmugam adopts one-eyed rescue dog, names her Princess
"She was very scared about everything. Poor thing, really. So we decided we'll bring her here and we'll call her Princess, and give her a much better life," he said in a TikTok video.
Singapore's Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam recently revealed that he has adopted three dogs – one of which is a one-eyed dog he has named Princess.
In a TikTok video posted on Saturday (Jan 13), Mr Shanmugam introduced Princess to the world, explaining that he and his family were looking to get "one or two dogs" after their pet Samson had to be put down due to age.
"We adopted Princess because she had just lost her eye and she had just been moved into the shelter...Compared to the other dogs, I think she was getting much less attention," added Mr Shanmugam.
"She was very scared about everything. Poor thing, really. So we decided we'll bring her here and we'll call her Princess, and give her a much better life."
With this adoption, Mr Shanmugam now has four dogs. He previously adopted a retired dog from the K-9 unit.
In a previous video, Mr Shanmugam voiced his objection to purchasing dogs, stating that all his dogs were rescue dogs.
