The professional wrestler and cast member of the reality TV show, Terrace House, had posted several messages on social media before her death.

The same day she died, she tweeted: “Every day, I receive nearly 100 honest opinions and I cannot deny that I get hurt.”

She also wrote: “Thank you for giving birth to me, Mom. I wanted to be loved in life.”

Her death has drawn condolences and condemnation of the bullies from her co-stars and other Japanese personalities.

Ryo Tawatari, who was previously on Terrace House, wrote on Instagram: “How can you judge people you have never met and only seen on screen?”

“Did they do something directly to you that you didn't like? What do you know? Are you perfect?” he added. “Before you talk about other people's lives, live your own life.”

Reina Triendl, who is a presenter on the show, wrote on Instagram: “I wonder whether it is possible for us all, off-line and especially also on-line, to create a kinder, more loving world in which we do not hurt and damage others, even inadvertently.”

Singer Kyary Pamyu Pamyu tweeted: “People say we should just ignore slanderous comments, but it's difficult. An entertainer is also a human being. Please don't forget this.”

Kimura joined the show in Sep 2019, and according to Kyodo News has had hateful comments directed towards her, focusing on her behaviour on the show.

After news of her death, politicians from the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and the opposition Constitutional Democratic Party Of Japan met to agree on starting a discussion on rules to prevent cyber bullying.
