During Chinese New Year this year, Malaysian actress Sora Ma announced that she's expecting her first child with her Singaporean businessman husband, who's only known as Mr R.

At that time, the 39-year-old former Mediacorp actress, who shared the good news through her Instagram, was already more than three months pregnant.

In a new video Sora posted on Instagram on Tuesday (Mar 5), she revealed that her baby was actually conceived through IVF.

"This is the bravest thing I have done for myself. I've been preparing for a while and I've finally decided to share. I'm an IVF mum," she shared.

"This is not something particularly easy but I'm still very thankful to my doctor and the medical team, my two best friends and the father of my child. Last but not least, I shall not forget to thank myself for my bravery," wrote Sora.

According to the actress, she and her husband had wanted a kid since they got married in 2022.

They went to see a doctor in June and July last year and underwent a series of fertility tests.

"The doctor said we shouldn't have a problem conceiving naturally, but I was already 39 at that time and my husband was pushing 50, so the doctor suggested we get some medical aid," she explained.

The actress decided to share her experience because "the women who go through this sometimes feel very lonely emotionally".

"Even though I was fully prepared mentally and physically, I still broke down once during this journey," she recalled.

"I wish to tell all those who are trying to conceive, pregnant, were pregnant before, or all the mummies out there, thank you for your hard work!" she said.

Sora's video also received lots of support from her showbusiness mummy pals.

"Rooting for you! All the best!," commented former Mediacorp star Jaime Teo, who has a 13-year-old daughter, Renee.

Hong Huifang, who has two kids, actors Tay Ying and Calvert Tay, with husband Zheng Geping, wrote: "A noble mum" with two heart-shaped emojis.
