Korean rapper Big Naughty, 20, angers fans for running off stage to kiss his girlfriend halfway through performance

A recent performance by Korean rapper Big Naughty, 20, has lost him many fans.

Last weekend, Big Naughty took to the Tone & Music Festival 2023 stage to perform his hit songs such as ‘Hopeless Romantic’ and ‘Joker’.

Midway through a track, Big Naughty dashed off stage leaving many of his fans confused. He returned moments later to resume the performance as if nothing had happened.

Even as his performance came to a close, the rapper did not address his disappearing act.

The reason for the sudden pause in his performance was later revealed in a video on Twitter. According to the clip taken by a netizen, Big Naughty had run off to kiss his girlfriend, who was waiting for him backstage.

Fans were disappointed, to say the least. He was criticised by many for being “unprofessional”. They also questioned if it was fair for “paying audiences to be treated with such disrespect”.

Angered by the incident, some of the rapper’s fans also brought up past instances when he arrived late for his gigs. And the reason for his tardiness is usually because he was “hanging out with his girlfriend”.

One netizen also said that the young star once missed his flight to a performance as he was “picking up his girlfriend” who was set to travel with him. He then lied to his fans that he had “encountered an issue while on the way to the airport”.

Many netizens found the situation amusing, leaving comments such as “he must really love his girlfriend” and “he might as well have kissed her on stage, that way, fans wouldn’t be so confused”.

His fans however, weren’t so forgiving. “He’s an adult [who should know] to make a distinction between work and personal life,” one wrote.

Another comment read: “Has he earned so much money that he doesn’t need to consider the feelings of his fans?”

Big Naughty has since apologised for his “frivolous behaviourand inexperience”.

“I’ve never taken a fan’s love for granted [and] it will always be that way,” he wrote. He also expressed regret for his “narrow-minded thinking”, and for causing inconvenience to those he worked with, and his fans who were at the performance.

Some of his followers have left him comments in a show of support, saying that it was “his right and happiness” and an apology “was not required for what he did”.

Big Naughty first stepped into the spotlight after participating in rap competition Show Me The Money 8 in 2019.

He got signed to Jay Park’s agency H1ghr Music the same year, and is now said to be a rising star in Korea’s rap scene.
