On Wednesday (Aug 21), South Korean agency The Black Label announced the first member of its upcoming girl group Meovv (pronounced 'meow'): American actress-model Ella Gross.
Going by the mononym Ella, the 15-year-old is a familiar face within the K-pop community due to her close friendship with the members of the girl group Blackpink. As a child, Ella appeared in numerous livestreams and pictures with Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa – with some fans calling her 'mini Jennie' due to her resemblance to the Solo singer.
Nonetheless, Ella has made a name for herself over the years – modelling for the likes of Zara, Levi's and Fendi. She has also appeared in television shows such as Star Trek: Picard and Malibu Rescue.
Meovv is set to be the first girl group of The Black Label – which was co-founded in 2015 by Blackpink producer Teddy Park. Fans believe that the group will comprise five members, going by a teaser posted by The Black Label. The identities of the remaining members will be revealed in the coming days.
A few possible names that have been thrown into the ring include American dancer-choreographer Bailey Sok and former YG Entertainment trainee Chloe Lee.
