Malaysian director Syafiq Yusof has confirmed that he will be working on a sequel to his movie Sheriff: Narko Integriti, following its box office success. The action thriller, which stars Zul Ariffin, Syafiq Kyle, Aaron Aziz and Elizabeth Tan, was released in Malaysia and Singapore theatres on Apr 18 and has since grossed over RM60.5 million (US$12.8 million).

Speaking to Malaysian news outlet Harian Metro, Syafiq said that he was currently searching for new ideas for a script.

"I'm thankful for the success of this film which has earned over RM60 million. Because of that, I agreed to create a sequel...Hopefully, everything works out well," he added.

Syafiq also expressed his excitement at Sheriff: Narko Integriti being screened in theatres in Hong Kong and Indonesia.

"Even though the total number of theatres [that Sheriff: Narko Integriti is playing] in Hong Kong isn't that much, it's still a good start for Malaysian movies."

Sheriff: Narko Integriti follows the story of Sherifuddin, an officer from the Integrity Department, who is trying to catch a criminal known as the Meth Killer. Joining him is Nazri, a young police officer.
