Fans of the hit Malaysian franchise Upin & Ipin can soon play as the adorable boys in an upcoming console game that's set to be released in 2025. On Monday (Jun 10), Burhan Radzi, the managing director of Les’ Copaque Production (Upin & Ipin's studio), uploaded images and a video of his team testing out the still-untitled game.

From the video, it appears that the game has an open-world concept – which allows players to explore the game's environment without boundaries. In the video, we see a player controlling Upin as he runs and jumps around his village.

In a Facebook post, Burhan explained that his team commissioned Las Vegas-based game developer Streamline Inc to create the game, and that it will be available on Sony's PlayStation 4 and Nintendo's Switch consoles.

He also added that the game, which is set for release in the first quarter of 2025, will have "no violence and is suitable for all ages".

"This project is an exciting venture in the gaming world, as it is based on a popular TV series. We are hopeful that this game will put Malaysia on the map in the gaming world. We are optimistic that this project will be successful and will be a source of pride for Malaysia."

Upin & Ipin follows the story of the eponymous twin brothers and their lives in a Malaysian village. The first season of the show aired in 2007 and became a regionwide hit, spawning memes, movies and multiple seasons.

In 2014, the franchise collaborated with Japanese studio Tsuburaya Productions (of Ultraman fame) to create the first Southeast Asian Ultraman who then appeared in an Upin & Ipin special.
