Rebecca Lim posts tribute to late father who beat cancer twice

The Mediacorp actress took to Instagram on May 28 to remember her "superhero Daddy". She also gave thanks to the doctors and nurses at the National University Hospital, and her father’s caregivers at home.

Mediacorp actress Rebecca Lim’s father, Larry Lim, died last week at age 68.

The sad news was first revealed in a post on The Lims' Kitchen's Instagram account on May 27.

“His love for food, family, and community ignited our passion for feeding others. We're grateful to our incredible team for their support during this time. We celebrated our father’s life with his favourite bites at the wake, knowing his legacy lives on,” read the post, adding that the business will take a two-week break.

The Lim's Kitchen is a bakery run by Rebecca and her brother Daniel. They also have a younger sister, Melissa, who is a dentist.

On May 28, Rebecca shared a touching post in memory of her “superhero Daddy”.

“He had the biggest heart. He cared for everyone deeply and loved generously. We heard countless stories of how Dad touched the lives of many with his loyalty, devotion, kindness and love,” she wrote.

The actress revealed that her dad had survived cancer twice, and faced many other major health issues. However, “he never once complained and always held his head high”.

Rebecca fondly remembered how her dad always found ways to make their family laugh, despite battling illness.

He was in a coma for the past seven years, after suffering two major strokes.

The actress extended her thanks to the doctors and nurses at the National University Hospital, and her dad’s caregivers at home.

She continued: “My wonderwoman Mom and siblings @thelimskitchen @figsdental : I know we’ve been missing Daddy for seven years. But he fought hard to be with us. And though it hurts, I know that he’s with us forever. We will always miss his laughter, his jokes, his voice, his amazing meals, his advice, his support and especially his love. No amount of time would have prepared us for this.”

“I love you Daddy,” wrote Rebecca at the end of her post.

According to reports, the funeral was held on May 25, and he was cremated at Mandai Crematorium.
