Malaysian actor-director Syamsul Yusof is set to divorce his wife Ira Kazar after being married for less than two years. The Mat Kilau director filed his divorce application, through his lawyer Azmi Rais, at the Syariah Court in Gombak Timur, Selangor on Monday (Aug 19) afternoon – citing "irreconcilable differences".

Syamsul and Ira quietly married in January 2023 in Thailand. At that time, Syamsul was still legally married to his then-wife Puteri Sarah Liyana Megat Kamaruddin who had previously alleged that Syamsul and Ira were having an affair.

After news of Syamsul's second marriage became public, Puteri Sarah immediately filed for divorce – leading to a lengthy public battle that saw both sides trading barbs over multiple issues including divorce terms and infidelity claims.

After months of back and forth, Syamsul Yusof and Puteri Sarah were officially divorced on Jun 14, 2023.

Syamsul Yusof and Ira Kazar have yet to publicly comment on the proceedings.
